Terms of use

Alfred is a household organizer, offered free and without warranty. It is operated from Alberta, Canada; “we” and “us” mean its operator, and “you” means anyone using it. By creating an account or using Alfred you accept these terms. Questions: hello@foralfred.com.

What you can expect

Alfred tries to show you when something around your house is due. It is a reminder tool, not a guarantee. Do not rely on it alone for anything where a missed date is dangerous or expensive: furnace servicing, vehicle safety, medical appointments, or insurance and registration renewals.

Your account

You must be 13 or older. Keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has it. You are responsible for what is done with your account.

Households, invitations and the owner

• Whoever creates a household is its owner. The owner can rename it, replace its invite code, remove members, change who can see gift purchases, hand ownership to another member and delete the household.
• Anyone holding the invite code can join and will see and be able to edit everything in the household. Share it only with people you trust with that, and replace the code if it gets out.
• Every member can see and edit the household’s tasks, things and lists. The owner role does not change that. Members can leave at any time; an owner must hand ownership over first.
• You are responsible for the people you add, including children recorded without a login, and for the content entered on their behalf.

What we expect of you

• Use Alfred for your own household, and follow the law.
• Do not upload photos or other content you have no right to use, or anything unlawful, abusive or harmful.
• Do not attempt to reach data belonging to other households or accounts.
• Do not disrupt the service, probe it for weaknesses, or use it to send spam or automated traffic.

Content you upload

Your tasks, lists, photos and other content remain yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to the members of your household, which is what makes Alfred work, and nothing more. We do not sell it or use it for advertising. You are responsible for having the right to upload it. See the privacy page for how it is handled.

Availability

There is no uptime commitment. Alfred runs on third-party hosting and may be interrupted, changed, or discontinued at any time. Keep your own record of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Ending your use

You can stop using Alfred at any time and delete your account yourself from Setup; the privacy page explains what deletion removes, and that an owner with other members must hand over ownership first. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, harms other households or the service, or is used unlawfully, and may end the service, with reasonable notice where we can give it.

Disclaimers and liability

Alfred is provided “as is”, with no warranty that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free, including that a reminder will arrive. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from use of, or inability to use, Alfred, and our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us for it, which is nothing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and using Alfred after a change means accepting it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Alberta have jurisdiction.
